December 22, 1945 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Sat nite & a very quiet at that. Bing Crosby is singing "White Xmas" and it's very pretty. You hear it more this year than last. And it's certainly a white one & definitely cold. To cold. The cottage hasn't been warm all day. Again last nite I didn't get to bed until after twelve honey. These late hours are beginning to show. Some kids came over & we played cards for awhile. Then we started to wrap the rest of our Xmas presents. Did it in the middle of the floor & such a mess. So, about 11:30 we decided to clean. We really tore around & it looked very good when we were through. Was a real surprise to us. Had not been done for quite sometime. We were glad we
