December 27, 1945 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Just blew in here from home tonite. Abit the worse in some ways. I'm so darn awkward. I fell down on the ice & hit my head & have a huge bump on my forehead. Didn't hurt at . first but is beginning to have a dull ache. Must catch up on some of the news before I forget what all I want to say. In my letter yesterday forgot to tell you Al was married Xmas eve at 3 P.M. Ma & Pa Bridger went & Margaret was home on a 72 hr leave. Was very pretty I guess. Al sent me a piece of the wedding cake to put under my pillow & wish on. Guess his folks had an awful trip home. Mon nite was nite had all the rain & ice & they had to have a truck pull them up a hill between Richland & [illegible]. My train was
