Sept 20, 1945 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! How's that swell fellow I love so very much? Gee, it's a swell day today. Kind of weather when a person would like to go on a long hike & then have supper over an open fire. But I'll forget what kind of weather it is when I get on duty at 3:00. After I'm married I'm never going to work a day of 3-11. I've spent the majority of last 3 yrs on 3-11 it seems like. Sorry, honey, I started to gripe, didn't I? I got up about 10 this A.M. cleaned my shoes & did some sewing. Then I dashed over to dinner. Always hungry, that's me. We always say we'll go on a diet tomorrow but tomorrow
