Sept 8, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya honey! Here goes with a little news again. And I do mean a little. I was on guard or about to go on the last time I wrote so I'll start from there. Got up at 3:30 and went on guard at the Finance office. Got off at 8: and went back to bed until noon. Nothing very exciting about that is there? Didn't do much in the afternoon either. Just laid around and read a book until evening. Then some of us hopped in a truck and went to the beach for a swim. Stayed there for about two hours then came back and went to bed. You hear that word bed mentioned
