Sept 17, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hi darling! First off I'll say I'm finally getting out of my blues. It was darned near time wasn't it honey? It's just cuz I love you so much Evelyn and it knocked me for a loop when I saw I wasn't getting home for awhile. Another thing that gave me a shot in the arm was two swell letters from you. Thats the next best thing to being with you. Darling, your letters mean so terribly much to me. Honey, I found out why you weren't getting mail for awhile. I got two letters back today
