damp and chilly the past few days. We hauled some coal the other morning so we can at least have a little heat. That reminds me of something. These people seem to be very cold and hungry. You can see old people, kids and middle aged people picking up every little stick or bit of paper. They just made a show out of our hauling that coal the other morning. Also they are always around our mess hall begging for anything they can get. All ages and I mean the very extreme limit. Maybe they had a hand in starting the war, but I have a heck of a time thinking of those old people and kids going hungry. Maybe I'm just soft-hearted, but I don't think so.
