Tues. Dear Folks, Another day past and this one was the hottest we've had. It must have been about 100 degrees in the shade, but there isn't any shade so you know how hot it was. Along with the heat we worked pretty hard to. We spent the forenoon on bayonet practice and the afternoon on hand grenade tossing. I hope I never have an occasion to use a bayonet for they are a pretty mean weapon. The practice for it is really tough. The hand grenades weren't so bad. We just more or less learned the form of throwing them. We finished with our rifle fire yesterday. I didn't do so bad in our record fire for I made "Marksman." Not a very big per cent made it in fact there were very few in our whole company. I guess we don't get medals because the carbine isn't our regular weapon. The only way we can get one is on the machine gum. I sure wish the did give medals for it could have gone in
