my trophy case. I couldn't find any Father's Day cards at the PX so I'll just have to wish you a happy Fathers Day in this letter. Thanks for everything dad. No one could ever hope for a better father. I wish I could send something but I don't know where I'd get it. I guess they will start giving us passes pretty soon now so maybe I can find something. I had to come down to the latrine to write this for the lights have gone out in the barrack. There are about a dozen guys down here every night writing because we don't have any spare time. Last night I didn't write because we had to clean rifles until late. Tonight I didn't make it upstairs but I can do it down here. I guess the surrounding doesn't mean much in letter writing anyway. I guess I'd better get to bed for we have another hard day tomorrow. With this heat you need all the energy you can get. Four fellows I know of passed out today from the heat. They feed us salt tablets all the time now. Well I'm going to bed. Goodnight. Love Carroll
