Saving...
we had eaten supper I was put on a detail to work at the Supply Room I had no sooner gotten off that job until the sounded the alarm for a practice air raid. They ran us up into the hills for awhile. It must have been about 9:00 when we came back to camp. Now the day was just getting started for they lined us up and we started out on an eight mile after night hike. We carried full field pack, gas mask, rifle and wore our steel helmet. On the way they threw tear gas into the rank so we had to wear our gas mask for awhile. We also passed through a smoke screen. We got back to camp a little after midnight and it was one o'clock by the time we got to bed.
