June 27, 1943 Dear Dad, Mom & Rose, Here it is Sunday afternoon already. My how the weekends fly by. It seems you don't get much done. I guess I did though for since yesterday noon I've written twelve letters, did laundry, cleaned a rifle plus all the other odd jobs. I got a good early start though. They got us up at 5:00 this morning. That was nice of them wasn't it? It sure has warmed up today. It must be over 100 degrees but there is no thermometer around here. They say it makes you feel worse when you see how hot it gets. I'm not kidding either. We took a picture of the group of S.A.E.s today. Eight of us to be exact. I'll have to get one when they come back.
