October 1, 1945 Hi darling. Here goes a bit of news. I'm on duty 11-7 and all's quiet- at least for the present. And is a bit cold. I have a sweater but it doesn't seem to help much. Alatty is up on second tonite so every now & then we go to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. Anything to keep us awake. I go on duty at 3 tomorrow so I'll have to sleep fast . I'm certainly glad I didn't work 11-7 Sat nite unless they changed times. That would have been bad. We are sitting in the bus. manager's office. A letter bell rings [illegible] a light goes
