Oct 9, 1945 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! How's that one swell guy I love so very much. Well, I'll start [with] some of the news. There is abit more for a change. I went home & I got one more day than I expected so it really made it worthwhile. [illegible] went home [with] me. And of course she kept teasing me about the town. But she had to admit it was a pretty swell little place. And so do I. Well, we got up at 5:00 Sun A.M Train was to leave at 5:36. We just made it & took the bus from Davenport on. We got to [Keata Jct?] & no folks. Floyd Smith was to come
