January 2, 1945 [1946] Dear Vera & Steamer & Meg, Still cold as can be isn't it? Still icy as can be here. Got along fine when I came back last wk. until I got a block from the cottage & I fell & hit my head. Had an awful bump & now that's better my eyes are getting black. I'm so awkward. Suppose you've heard Ruthie had her baby day after Xmas. She fell down the steps again & that was it. Baby is really cute. Looks so much like Beverly Ann when she was small. Named her Kathryn Eilene. Didn't get my sweater quite done either. We've been awfully busy lately. Not so much what is schedule but so many emergencies. I've been on call every other nite & we get off between 10 & 11. We all overslept the other day & what a scramble at 7:30. We got paid today
