Jan 9, 1946 Dear Vera, Steamer & Meg, Hi! Got back O.K. other nite. Train made up Iowa time so wasn't very late. And I didn't fall down either. Last evening when I got up there was a note for me to call Western Union. Was a cable from Carroll [with] his new address. Is Co B 505 M.P. Bn. APO 777 % P.M. New York. I got 2 letters from him today dated 12th & 16th. He was still working on the plans for the party. Had played a couple of basketball games. Did he tell you he's having my picture painted from my graduation picture by some German fellow. Is a pastel painting. I think he's having his done too. I hope so. They'll be wonderful to have. Am enclosing the picture for Margret to send to Ken. Have had 2 nites on duty so far. Have been
