Saving...
January 20, 1943 10 P.M. Dear Mom, Received your letter to-day and was very glad to hear from you. You mention that, "yesterday was wash day." Well I just finished a two weeks washing about 10 min ago, and it was a big one. That bivouac dirtied a lot of extra clothes. On top of that, I've loaded 2,000 rounds of 30 ca. ammunition in machine gun belts since supper. So I'm pretty tired. Those small parts that "Smitty" wrote to you about, that are made by hand, have to be made that way. A template is just like a die. You have to make a perfect one by hand first in order to make parts from it afterwards. See? I wrote to Sally explaining a little bit about my work now. I imagine that she read it to you. Perhaps you'd like to know a little bit about what we learned to-day. I explained the meaning of the word "Sop," I believe.
