3 Stages of operation. 1. This is called "preparatory tourism." We use this if we can get away with it. (a) Two# men who speak the native tongue fluently dress in native clothing. (b) Worm way into town as tourists, farmers, etc. Act inconspicuous, but find out if town is friendly or not. List subversive activities and enemy garrison, if any are present. Prepare list of men to be shot. (No fooling!) REturn to C.P. and report. 2. This stage to be used if Stage I is not feasible. This is the actual organization of the town. (a) This stage WILL be used. Four (no less) or more patrols to take part. Remember Mom that a platoon is 36 men only, and there are 4 patrols of 9 men each in a platoon. It is this number of men which is required to organize this town of 15,000. (b) The duties of patrol No. 1. (1.) The entering and clearing of the main street, or streets by grenades, rifles, and sub-machine guns. Half of patrol down the right hand side of street. The other half on the opposite side. If on foot keep to shadows and door-ways, holding guns on second story windows. This patrol will ruthlessly exterminate all resistance. The number of men to be increased if the size of the town, warrants it. (c) The duties of Patrol No. 2. (1.) This patrol siezes all road intersections and bridges. Stops all traffic movement.
