March 23, 1943 Dear Mom, It doesn't seem as if it's been pretty near a month since I wrote to you I thought I wrote you a letter after I came back from Atlanta But I guess I didn't I knew you had a birthday on March 5/th and I fully intended writing and wishing you a Happy Birthday Then we got so darn busy that it slipped my mind entirely I'm sorry Mon I didn't intend to forget you like that You know dog-gone well if I'd been home I'd never have neglected it this way Next year maybe I'll be able to make up for it I hope so anyway.
