Your letter was very newsy and I do appreciate your putting in the clippings News of Louise and Smitty is quite surprising [?] I thought Louise's working days were all over And Smitty with an ear operation Hope it isn't serious I managed to get quite a lot of that fruit cake Somehow I thought I wrote you about that too It was darned good and any other contributions from the Hyde house-hold will be duly appreciated and contents consumed One of the fellows got a big box from home with cake cookies, salami, cheese, jars of spaghetti and ripe olives We allowed a little bit of it. Guess I'll have to tell you about a little of the excitement we've had
