The upshot was that, theoretically, they practically annihilated the Reds. And here is how it was worked. The nights were moonless at this time and the Engineers of the Blues worked every night, all night, and constructed an underwater bridge. The stream is muddy, and they constructed the bridge about a foot under water, so it couldn't be seen. It took them 3 nights to build it. It was really a masterpiece of workmanship, and they say that the Reds who saw the crossing, couldn't believe their eyes. To see tanks, trucks, half-tracks, motorcycles, jeeps, self-propelled vehicles, and all, apparently gliding along the surface of the water. Pretty neat thinking, it seems to me.
