May 1, 1943 7:30 P.M. Dear Mom, Your letter arrived yes- terday but I couldn't write because we were too busy mov- ing back to barracks and getting settled again. So here it is May-day and no May-pole and no baskets of posies. Oh well we can't have everything Looks like all the holidays and special occasions are going to pass me up for some time to come. The whole division changed into their khakis (or sun-tans as they call them) to-day. We will not wear our O.D 's until late in the fall Even if it goes to
