Saving...
[Letterhead] July 24, 1943 1705 Dearest Mom, Have a little time between my P.X. duties, so I'm trying to catch up on my letter writing. Finished a letter, in my spare time, to my ever-loving wife. Don't remember if I've written since I received the box from home or not. It was swell of you folks to think of me, and I sure do appreciate it. The candy and cookies tasted fine. Thanks so much, Mom. I didn't thank Sally, I don't believe, for the new sox, or you for the darned ones. Please tell Sally that I do appreciate them and I'll thank her myself in my next letter. I'm very glad that the Craig's liked me. They are fine people, and I value their friendship very highly. However, I didn't think I made that much of an impression on them. If I live up to the Craigs opinion of me, I'll really be doing something. If the war keeps going like it has been, maybe the war will be over before very long. I sure hope so. The sooner it's over, the sooner
