[Letterhead] August 7, 1943 1147 Dearest Mom, Got a few minutes, so I'll get off some of my correspondence. Received your letter of the 29th a couple of days ago and was very glad to hear from you, as always. so glad to hear that your illness wasn't any worse than it was. And also that you're getting better. I imagine it will take quite a few treatments, however, to get you up to par. Had to laugh about you sleeping on table leaves. That to me, now, would seem just like a feather bed. Out here, we just throw out blankets on the ground, and go to sleep. Most generally, it's a mess of rocks under us. But we just wiggle around until we find the best rocks and it's not so bad. I hope you have a good time at Schooley's and just relax and take it easy. I'm sure Alice will agree with me on that.
