Saving...
them. Will try to write to Janet and express my wishes, that she had a Happy Birthday. Wish I had remembered it. She's always been so good to me, that the least I can do is recognize her birthday. I also received a letter from Bert, with a fairly long note at the end of it from Smitty. Still have to answer that Smitty writes a much better hand than she does. I think it's rather nice of her to bother to write to me. Having never seen me or anything. She must be an unusual person. A great big black snake just surprised me. Guess he was as surprised as I was however. I don't think he even saw me. He was coming toward the rockpile I'm sitting on, and he was only about a foot away when I saw him. I jumped up and he took off like a streak of lightning around the other side, where he dissappeared in the rocks. I've got some work to do on my half-track, so I guess I'd better bring this to a close. We have come to the end of our problem for this week, and all vehicles have to be worked on. So until next time, So long Mom, and take care of yourself. And I'll try and do the same. All my love from your son Jack [Row of X's]
