February 10, 1944 2100 My dearest Mom, Received that awfully nice valentine today and it honestly made a lump rise in my throat I've been pretty lousy as a son for most if my life and sometimes it seems incredible that you could still love me It's just about like heaping coals of fire on my head But honest and truly I did like the card very much Mom you know that And its' good to know that I'm in someone's heart
