Saving...
Jack's Jan. 14th letter - conc. Snuffing out the life of a fellow human being, so there are never pangs of conscience. I'm feeling fine, & in the best of health. I may have lost a little weight, but that is negligible. When I get back to the "States," I'll probably gain it back in a couple of days on that good home cookin'. We don't want for anything as the army is noted for taking care of its own, & we're no exception. They get our supplies to us "by hook or by crook." We have more cigarettes than we know what to do with. I've turned down my last 2 rations of "cigs" (that consisted of 12 packs) because I had no place to carry them. I'll have to tell Sally about that & she'll probably turn green with envy, because I don't imagine she's getting as many as usual what with the shortage back in the "States." Will say good-nite now, Mom. All the love in the world, Jack.
