PSFS News Page 30 BERNARD QUINN I have been reading science fiction as far back as I can remember. I first learned that others were interested while reading my school paper some time back. It contained an article to the effect that Robert A. Madle and John V. Baltadonis had put out a fantasy mag. called The Fantasy Fiction Telegram. Later I wrote an article or so for that publication, abut the asteroid Antares[[?]]. Previous to writing that article, I had called upon Madle and Baltadonis and bought the December issue and formed a fast friendship with both boys. At about that time I became a member of the PSFS. A movie, "Flash Gordon," inspired me to create a costume of that nature for Halloween. It won me first prize at a party, too. I began to build up a collection of back date Astoundings, and the other magazines. Personally, I think that Astounding Science Fiction is the best of the group of science fiction magazines. I am also wondering if any of these newcomers that are cropping up will really amount to anything, , or if they will just fold up as have so many magazines in the past. Perhaps the "Martian Invasion"scare is giving science fiction a big boost. In August, 1937, I became a member of the Science Fiction League. In April, 1938 I joined the F.A.P.A. I attended the First National Science Fiction Convention held last May in Newark, and the Philadelphia Conference of 1938. Just this month I sent my first letter to the readers' section of a magazine--Thrilling Wonder Stories, to be exact. And--well, I think that's enough, except that I like science fiction.
