11. can I do for you, Champ,' he hissed. (What do you mean, you can't hiss a sentence with no sibilants in it? Are YOU the Devil?)" Any way, Koenig, I'm handing the glad "hello" right back to you with interest, and I'll put my ancient shoulder to the wheel with you assist in keeping these youngsters in line. but I sort of resent that "old-timer" stuff. Hell, I'm only 48 1/2, and I'll be darned if I'll admit that that is even middle-aged. ((I have hopes of having met H. C. K. personally by the time this 'zine reaches the mailing, and I am sure I will like this guy -- just from reading his stuff.)) To those who think Koenig is a little out of line in speaking of his books and "Showing Off". It is what a collector is supposed to do, and besides the name of his mag is Reader, and Collector, and naturally he would talk in it about collections, and the various items in it. I, for one, am interested in hearing even more about this fine and rare books. THE AGING BITE OF THE DIMWIT: Oops, Doc, my spelling! The mimeoing was not any too good, but the various items were very interesting. I salute you for your fine poetry, Sir. As one who has courted the Muse on various occasions, my hat is off to you for your really fine verse. CENSORED: Canada comes through with a nice little FAPAzine that is a grand piece of mimeoing; has a lot of interesting pics in it, and some enjoyable reading material. I hope the hitch-hiker got his ride. I got a special kick out of the Time story, and its mix-ups. I could do a little criticizing of the development, perhaps, but it would, as Red Skelton's character says, "Only lead to blood-shed." Hope to see more of this fine addition to our midst. THE MADMAN OF MARS: Interesting psychological study of the youthful Ackerman's brain-processes. And I've read worse story-contents in the prose, and some writing not much better. MILTY'S MAG: As usual, one of the most interesting little mags that comes into my mailbox. I always like the Rothman's ideas, even when I don't agree with him, which I usually do. Best of all, he is always interesting. I've wondered why someone didn't try mimeoing on second sheets. Works put pretty well, too, except you couldn't use the reverse side on that thickness paper. INSPIRATION: Lynn puts out some interesting dope, especially when he mentions my name, and talks about what a swell guy Jack Wiedenbeck is. Too bad Thompson didn't get his stuff up in time to make it PHANNY. I understand Lynn is in the Army now, and his address is "Pvt. Lynn Bridges, Det. 2nd Chem. Co., Ser. (Avn.), MacDill Field, Tampa, Fla." He was in Fort Custer three or four days, and phoned Wiedenbeck, but we didn't any of us get a chance to get out and see him, and he didn't get town-leave while here, for which we are all sorry. SARDONXY: One of the best mags in the issue, showing a lot of careful thought andhard work, and subject matter extremely interesting. Too many points to review them all, but I certainly have to hand it to LRC for a fine little FAPAzine. And a whole bouquet of posies for his beautiful poetry.
