that it is brought before the directorate. I had a number of ideas last year, but after sending them in I heard nothing more about them. 3. I will try to be usefull to the younger fans. And will to help and encourage them to become better and more active. At least two of the other members running for Directorship are also comparatively young fans, and tho we are not a clique, we agree on many things, and will work together to aid the new fans get started. A number of fans have agreed that the NFFF needed new blood. We agree, and we are that blood. ((Bloodthursie sorte of felloe aynt hee?)) * * * Paul Spencer: I wish to be a member of the Board of Directors in order to get things done. If elected, I will do all in my power to rouse the NFFF from its lethargy, and make it produce. ((Ho-hum. Wake up, NFFF, you sleepyhead.)) * * * Telis Streiff: This is my platform for Director in the nfff for the year of 1947. I will make no bones about my policy. It is a very simple one, and one that I will follow thru with to the letter. To begin with I am a youngfan. One of teen age, but this I do not consider as a handicap, rather as an asset. I have in my own way, sort of a conscience, which I feel sure some of last years directorate did not have. During the year of 1946, the nfff was split by factions of selfish individuals, who cared only for their own gaines, and not one iota for the progress of the National Fantasy Fan Federation. I advocate a teen age directorate for the nfff. Altho some of the old guard hold us in contempt, many of the acti-fans believe in new blood for the nfff. Unhampered by personal prejudice, we can make the nfff something more than a figure-head for the gain of some people. I and Rick Sneary have discussed in letters, all the workings of a national organization such as the nfff, and have formulated many ideas for it. These ideas are the realization of many of the common fan' . And not the misconceptions of an egotist. When you vote this fall, I suggest that you vote for, Rick Sneary, Sandy Kadet, and myself, for directorate. If I am elected, I shall gladly help any new fan, to introduce his ideas. I believe many of you fen, readng this do not present your ideas, because they are scoffed at by the old guard. And you are in a sense ridiculed. That is why fandom is losing as many and maybe more followers than it is getting. A certain fan once said, 'It seems to me that a more plausible explanation for the ignoring of neophytes at some gatherings is that the older fans have already thot and heard nearly all the ideas, that newcomers are likely to put forward, and prefer to talk with fellows who can join them in building broader concepts, or going into subjects more deeply. It is surprising as much deference is paid to neophites as is the case.' It is very gratifying that most fans do not hold the same opinion. We teen age fans have the support of many well known fans. One person named Bob Tucker in particular. If you 'Joe Fanns' want any thing done vote for the teen age bloc in the next nfff election. What the nfff needs is new life, new ideas, WE'VE GOT THEM. ((And with the last of the teen age vanguard, plenty strong on commas, we shut the squeaking trapdoor on the platforms. "I would not sit in the scorner's seat nor hurl the cynic's ban; let me loaf in the dive by the side of the road, and get on a bend with a fan." &e)) 9
