MARCH 11 19 Ironed. Walked thru dash of snow to take flower seeds to Kate Schmidt's to raise for me in greenhouse. Mended. Washed kitchen windows & put up clean curtains. -5° 1943. K moved Sig from 3075 Orchard to 215 N. Baked bread & honey custard. Sunny—thawed in PM. I shoveled foot of snow from in front of garage. Put in some Red Cross gas, went to [Joepfer's?], [Wopat's?], and Schmidt's on Red Cross drive & got Mrs. Schwenn to help in Branch. 1944. More sorting out & throwing away. Hans home at noon. Doris & Wayne here in P.M. to get car, grass rug, & cotton rug materials — To Buss' for 4H supper & mtg. I judged 8 dishtowels. Shirley first, Janet second. 35° 53° 1945 Awake some with bad indigestion. We all went to church. Kathryn to S.S., too. She was asked to identify a negro held in custody in P.M. Rose & Bobby Whitehouse & Hilda to WAC barracks. I read & wrote several letters. 46° 1946 Baked myself a loaf of bread & apfel kuchen. Washed blanket, quilt, & spread in Mrs. Powers' "Easy" washer. Nearly filled my poetry scrapbook. Went thru most of Hans' ETO letters in eve.
