August 2 1948 Hans and I left at 7:25, Muscoda at 8:45. Our apt. has freshly waxed and varnished floor. At schoolhouse in AM. Shopped, enameled old set of shelves (Chas made way back when) ivory. AT Robt. Scott's for New Eng. dinner and conference. 1949 Showery. I baked a cake in a "Form". Worked on my needlepoint. 1950 Very Cool. I canned 12 pt. raspberries (froze 6 pkg. and made Surejell jam last eve.) Ironed. Walked downtown. In eve 6 of us women met with church board to plan benefit for burned-out Jacobson family. 1951 Eva Lange's niece, Laura Davols, got me out of bed at 7:15! Picked and arr. mixed bouquet for her. Canned 25 pt. cherries. Took nap. Picked sweet corn for supper, as on nearly every eve. Drove in to see "A Murder has been Arranged". 1952 Slept fairly well on train, except knee hurt, so lay in lounge. Aberdeen 4:40 or so, ate sandwiches, fruit, orange juice and skim milk I bought - In No. Dak and Montana for first. Bad Lands then endless unpopulated dreary plains finally Rocky Mts. Out at Butte to buy bananas.
