JANUARY 9

1917. We canned Jonathan apples. It was muddy, when I got mail. I made a bib for Beatrice's first birthday, with outlines of "gingham dog and calico cat"

1918. -35° Cleaned the silver. Finished hemstitching third side of tablecloth, and began fourth. Called on Mrs. Berness. Tried her and several others for food chairmanship - nothing doing. Went down town with Mrs. Cogswell. Had a sleigh ride to Emigh's with Hans.

1919. A grand day, thawing some. I baked gingerbread cakes, cut out waist of blue wool dress, crocheted a medallion. Walked to town twice. Saw Dr. Burkland, for Hans and for myself. Hans got fever again in evening and was out of his head an hour or so. Dr. B. came -temperature 103° pronounced it "flu".

1920. Washed for Hilda. Sewed on my dress. We went to annual Grange banquet at central schoolhouse. Fine eats, pretty flowers. 100 or so there with numerous youngsters.

1921. A sunny Sunday. Wrote to Mary, August + Anna, and correspondence cards to Myrtle Nelson and Edith Bliss - all "thank-you" letters. Took nap. John Scotts', with their 3 mo. son Leroy and Mr and Mrs. Lofe Scott here in evening.
