Saving...
JANUARY 29 1917. I took Helen to Hise's, made a call on Aunt Minnie, and took an osteopath treatment. Warmer. I hung out a washing. Papa and Leslie went to Ames for Farmers' Week. We printed pictures at night. 1918. Up date 7:30 - didn't hear alarm. Baked two pies - one for the bachelor. Wrote circle letter and to Hazel Scott. Got no mail - first time in long while. Sold corn-fodder that was left. Went to Red Cross - made buttonholes in convalescent robe, and started a bed skirt. Crocheted. 1919. Another warm sunny day. Washed white flannels Sis had sent me. Sat down to sew by 8:00 A.M. Finished gray Hoover dress, Mrs. Stewart helping a little in lining up bottom. Wound blue and white balls of Saxony yarn, crocheted nearly all of one bootee - my first ever. Margaret & I went to see Marguerite Clark in movie "Rich Man, Poor Man." Letter from Hans. 1920 We finished ironing. Folks and Leslie drove to Muscatine. I had one man besides George for dinner. Hilda nearly sick - vomited in night. Uncle John came in evening. I sewed crocheted slipper tops to soles & finished them, made Hilda everyday gray petticoat, sewed on her quilt. 1921. Our daughter Signe arrived at 6:55 A.M. - five minutes before Dr. Frank & Mrs. Boldt came. Just Hans & his mother here. Clifford Boldt cut off a finger, so his mother went to town & brought him here. Signe and I slept - Hans took his mother home in eve. Hazel & Delia stopped to see baby.
