Saving...
FEBRUARY 8 1917. Went on fast mail to Des Moines, where I bought myself new shoes and suit, Pyrex for Florence, etc. Went to Ankeny on 3:30 interurban. Saw Edith Bliss' school, called at Abuhl's, went to hear missionary from Africa. 1918. Mild. I dried more potatoes and carrots, and made preserves of a half-gallon jar of green tomato pulp. Finished flowered chiffon guimpe I began just two weeks ago. Constance and I played "500" in eve at Cogswell's. He and C. made a double [newls?]! Mrs. and I won 3 of 5. 1919. Laura and I took a walk about the Univ. before she took the 11:20 train back to Meckling. I worked nearly 2 hrs. on my bedspread, walked to town then went to Petersons just in time for "coffee." Crocheted on insertion. Letter from Helen. Wrote to her, mamma, Herman, and Georgia. Laura came in eve. with Hans again from Meckling. I had cocoa, popcorn and sandwiches for us. 1920. Wrote to Amanda and Florence. Read. A quiet Sunday at Elmenhurst. I have a cold. 1921. Up and dressed all day. Signe awake quite a bit in night. I managed to keep her awake a couple hours in the day. I did a lot of left-over patching for Hans - left from last year. Napped, crocheted.
