Saving...
February 11 1917. Hans and I went to Methodist Church in Ames. He became a member. Mr. Jensen took us out for dinner. Florence's cousin, Richard Peterson, took Hans to 9:00'ruben. Flo and I complete plans for Wednesday. 1918. Cut out and made black + white striped big apron from Constance's pattern, and piped it with blue. Got announcement of Howard Eugene Doane. Made nut marshmallows and "war candy' for Valentine box for Hans. Constance and I played "500" at Cogswell's again. Mrs. and I double [illegible] twice in succession. 1919. Hans got back from yesterday's work with pig clubs in Garfield. For a 2:00 P.M. dinner. Very warm and muddy. In A.M. I walked 10 blocks to Meleen's to engage Mrs. M. for nurse. I baked white and rye bread and rolls, washed my hair (Miss Dunne helping dry it). And crocheted on flannel petticoat. Miss Dunne here for supper and all night again. 1920. Have backache and some headache, regular old fashioned grip. I did manage to cut out Hilda a dress from some used blue material. Letter from Edith Bliss. Charlie here for supper + all night. 1921. Sent circle letter, card and gingham and pattern to mamma for dresses for Hilda. Fed chickens and was outdoors for first. Still very cloudy. Mrs. Bolt made and canned 10 1/2 qt. mincemeat for me besides the other work. I caught a little cold in the breasts, which were swollen + painful in eve.
