Saving...
February 13 1917. Florence and I baked cakes, nut bread, etc. The old Hillside girls and others sent her a kitchen shower. I gave her a 2-cup sieve and set of measuring spoons, and a Pyrex casserole for her wedding gift. 1918. Raveled out my knitting and began crocheting trench helmet. Embroidered my and Han's names on blocks for quilt for Margaret Weidemann. Wrote to Olga and Florence, also to Hans, after I found gov't will not let us have car, and I decide to send by local freight and go as soon as I can. Cut out corset cover in A.M., too. Constance and I heard George Glick of Univ. of Minn. lecture on "Slaves of Tradition." 1919. Rained in night. turning to heavy snow which kept falling all day, and drifting. I made me a "hospital gown" of old white crepe nightgown, worked on bedspread edge, and crocheted most of bottom for second flannel petticoat. Spent P.M. with Mrs. Miller and evening with Mrs. Stewart. Wrote to Anna. I slept alone again. 1920. Raw and windy. Made Hilda's blue dress. 1921. I did the necessary work, getting along nicely except I failed to get nap. Otto and Alvira Weideman here in P.M. Signe only awake twice in night. A beautiful spring like Sunday.
