Saving...
February 25 1917. Papa and I went to church. Reverend Edwards, a missionary, preached on "Why the Mexicans Hate Us." Paul and Millie had Verna baptized. Then she went to sleep in my lap. I read Harold Bell Wright's "When a Mom's a Mom." 1918. Three letters from Hans, wanting me to leave Friday. Visiting the order of the day. Helen began driving to school again. My cold- first I've had since I was in Iowa before, and acquired last P.M. of packing- bothers some. Helped mamma finish her gray percale dress. Started cutting up some of my old cotton dresses for rug rags. 1919. Zero, but sunny all day. Crocheted 2 medallions, embroidered in blue and white on little dress. Walked to town in P.M. Started letter to mamma. Sent birthday card to Helene. Letter from Anna. Mrs. Stewart brought her sewing and Helen over a while in P.M. 1920. I went with Hans in bobsled to Whitney's, saw our new herd of Holsteins, looked over our big nine-room house, saw my flock of 84 Rhode Island Reds; Mrs. Whitney gave me husk mattress, 2 irons, clock, etc. Took nap in P.M. Amanda returned Sat. from Dakota. Wrote to mamma. 1921. Hans gone to town till very late, in confab with Whitney and Keck. I ironed a little, baked an ovenful of graham bread. Signe has quite a cold.
