March 1 1917. A lamb like day. Leslie and George take over the management of Elmenhurst Farm. Mamma and I went to Embroidery Club at George Ford's. 1918. Trees still covered with snow. Down to 5°. Took Leslie's picture with yellow pet cat. Made 5 qts. Ben Davis and Rhubarb combination jam. Cut up more rags and crocheted quite a bit on my rug. Wrote to Sis and Hans. 1919. Mopped, cleaned grocery cupboard, baked cookies. Started crocheting rose filet square for luncheon- cloth, perhaps for Olga's wedding. Lion-like-snowing and windy- and lamblike-sunny-in turns. Wrote to Constance. 1920. A very sunny, lamb-like day. In bed all day. Hans got our M.W. stuff from Elwood. Leslie and George acquire option to buy Elmenhurst Farm. Circle letter - Will Scott has T.B. and they are in California. 1921. Windy but not a bad day. I baked a cherry and a mince pie. Hans and I got the bacon up to smoke. Signe slept most of the day - then was awake in evening till 10:30. I finished her yarn nightingale.
