March 8 1917. Swept part of upstairs. Mamma came home, having visited in Atalissa. 1918. A fine day. "Goodbys" at Elmenhurst- walked to Charlie's then George came in surrey and took me to W. L. Went to Davenport on 11:20 train. Bought Helen green silk dress. Went on Milwaukee to Delmon where Hans came from west and met me at 5:30. We went on N. W. train to Nashville where Amanda met us with pony. Muddy. 1919. Cleaned up house, baked chocolate cake. Finished first khaki shirt, including 18 buttonholes. Took little walk in P.M. It was so nice- overhead. Hans and I spent evening at Gallup's, playing 500. Mr. G and I had better luck, tieing first 6 games, but lost 2 then. 1920. Cold S.W. wind, but warmed up. Adela went to Elwood to school, + came back again in evening. I finished cleaning pantry shelves, fixed up some hens' nests, and helped unpack bookbox, etc. 1921. Signe slept most of day. Hans was so late home from creamery for dinner, and other interruptions kept me from having nap. I baked oatmeal cookies. Warren's got 20 red hens of us- last of our Rhode Island Reds-
