1917-1921 - 03-16

March 16 
1917. A regular March day - wind, snow, and rain and a touch of sunshine. I baked a big white cake, helped iron, cleaned the upstairs, and finished up my birthday cushion, also made covers for pillows.
1918. Hans came back to 
Chaussee's in early A.M., waking us. I got E. B. Miller to help with heavy unpacking all forenoon. Plumber connected us to city water, and we began living in the bungalow. Hot air furnace works fine. Electric lights not connected yet. Supper was first meal eaten in this new house. Went to Chausee's afterward. 
1919. Sunny all day. I read "Prudence of the Parsonage," helped(?) Hans with plans for house if we build on our Minn. land, wrote to mamma. Tjaden's called in P.M. Hans and I walked to P. O. in evening. Menlo journal with account of farewell for Aunt Emma who goes to Canada with Millie.
1920. Wind worse- simply terrific. I washed woolens for Hilda, baked cake, fixed up more nests. Letter from mamma. Kept me busy feeding calves, hens, piggies, and Hilda. 
1921. Baked white bread and never fail cake and made suet pudding. Did a little left over ironing at 3:30 found I would have woodsawers for supper. Hazel + Adela helped. We had eleven for supper, all of Warren's, M. Cook, and Lyman Hall.
