March 31 1917. Mopped, baked, etc. Trimmed my hat with colored embroidery radiating from gayly colored silk. Finished Helen's suit-jacket. She has pink-eye- also a week's vacation. March also goes out lamb-like. 1918. Time changed to "save daylight" moving time-pieces and hour ahead. We went to bluff overlooking Missouri R. for Easter sunrise meeting. Mr. Bryant took us there in P.M. to get acquainted with his wife, Mrs. Leffler's cousin. Heard Easter cantata at Union meeting in Methodist church. 1919. A frosty morning, but sun shone fine all day. I walked to office in A.M. and Edna and I cleaned up a lot of corn there. I made last khaki collar and pocket, crocheted on novelty braid and began sewing it to sheet. Wrote citron story, and to Flo. Planted aster seed in hot bed. 1920. Canned 8 qts. ham, finished ironing, unpacked another barrel of empty jars, mended. Letters from Edith Bliss, Quill circle letter, and from Constance that she will help me this summer. Letter from August. 1921. Got along quite well with regular work. Baked gingerbread. Went to see our milking machine in operation. Did a little mending after my work. Grace and Sara Skott here in evening and [illegible] play whist. I played a little while. Alfred [illegible] over night.
