Papa was in Des Moines at Iowa Aq. Conference for increased food production. 1918. I made outline for talk on using substitutes for wheat. Anna and I went to Meberg's with Mrs. Tjaden to W.F.M.S. of Methodist church. Met many women - good old Methodist crowd. Crocheted on bedspread lace. 1919. Hans and Amanda did a ten days' washing while I bossed the job and helped a bit. Also baked bread. Crocheted. Helped Hans sow some more seed in hot bed, also planted flower seeds in one porch box. Finished reading "Eyes of the World". 1920. Men all picking corn at Skott's all day, also Adela after morning work was done.
