Saving...
May 17 1917. Another fine day. Took pictures of mamma feeding little chickens. Worked on my second linen napkin, and crocheted on my wide insertion. Onions and lettuce to eat. 1918. Canned 2 qts. rhubarb marmalade and cracked 2 C hickory nuts for more. Fine rain in night. Had to clean up dusty house. Had lettuce from our garden, also radishes. Started white dress for Beatrice. 1919. Up in better time. Have Hilda now on 1-4-7-10 o'clock daily schedule (omitting 1:00 A.M.) and things go better. Baked bread and sour-cream cake, planted cucumbers and more peas in garden. Letter from mamma. Hans planted soy, navy, brown + Lima beans + sweet corn in big garden. 1920. Damp day. I baked bread, painted sewing room floor its second coat, and gave southwest room floor upstairs its first coat, a lighter brown; mended some. Letter from Amanda 1921. A "Jonah" day. Showers and a flooded engine interfered with washing; Hans and Alfred came for dinner when they had planned to plant corn at folks; Hans woke me from nap.
