1917-1921 - 06-04

JUNE 4
1917. Just rested, took nap with Olga and Velma. Hans and Helena went to Maquoketa; the Ford broke, it stormed, and they walked home. Hans' father gave us a 3/4 pure-bred Holstein cow, but freight rates prohibit our taking her to Minn. His mother gave us home-grown goose-feather bed and pair of pillows
1918. Canned a quart of rhubarb - pineapple marmalade and a pt. of pineapple; baked corn - potato muffins. Hans home late to dinner. Crocheted 5 daisies. Started to fill in some onion sets, but rain chased us home. Steady rain then fell most of the night.
1919. More rain, but cleared to day the family washing in P.M. Hilda still sick. Crocheted some. 
1920. Went out to truck patch to cover cabbage, but couldn't find anything to cover them all. Constance not doing much. I treated last potatoes, and in P.M. was out for hours dropping 16 rows of late potatoes. Letter from Minnie Miller.
1921. Ironed the front room curtains, baked bread, did some mending. A busy day.
