Saving...
June 27 1917. Best wash day I have had here, but it did rain after dinner. We bought Norby's garden, little stove, etc. Hans and I walked to town after supper and got our mail- $10 and letter from Herman, $2 and letter from Mrs. Leffler, and letter from Sis. Mr. and Mrs. Day brought us out in their Ford. 1918. Hans took Mr. Borneman to Volin (21 mi.) after the Co. threshermen's meeting, getting back at 2:00 A.M. Slept late. I cleaned our bedroom. Went to Ladies' Aid in P.M. at Tjadens. Made the four buttonholes in convalescent robe. Hans and I worked late in big garden, I transplanted 17 late cabbages. Mrs. Bryant came to call while we were gone. 1919. Baked biscuit + pumpkin pie. August here for dinner. Finished ironing. Cooler. Hilda didn't feel well and was awake all day. Over's came to tell me I am Supt. of Cradle Roll. Hans went out to Garfield in eve. Had first turnips. 1920. Constance and Jim went to the Caves. We went to the folks for dinner. Aunt Martha Ehlers there, also Otto Weideman's. 1921. With plenty of help, got something done. We canned 2 qt. peas and 1 of beans; I baked biscuit, mamma the bread, and Helen the pumpkin pies. Papa helped us in garden in P.M. (after I got nap); we transplanted cabbage, killed weeds; mamma planted cucumber seed. Hot. Walked to Warren's in eve to hear Helen sing.
