July 20 1917. Walked to Ole's with Hans for milk. Hoed 'bagas, etc. Ironed. Hans and I ate lunch in school yard. Did a two weeks' mending in lawn swing. Very hot. We watered corn, cucumbers, and beans. Took a bath al fresco. Night as warm as any we have had. 1918. Gave whole house a needed cleaning, cleaned silver, baked oatmeal cookies and first yeast bread, corn + wheat, since May 9. My new kerosene stove came. We met mamma and papa at 7:38 P.M. and took them a little ride in country. We washed Ford after dinner. 1919. Slept till 9, after giving Hilda her regular 6 or 7 o'clock breakfast. Hans pulled my wash-machine engine apart. I canned 1 qt. rhubarb-fig conserve. Not much like Sunday. Took ride about town. Nice little rain in evening. Had first tomatoes. Wrote to Helena. 1920. Washing done by 10. Cut apart old blue marquisette dress and started to remodel it.
