July 25 1917. We worked in school garden till 10. I mopped floors, coffee cake, etc. Hans finished screwing up my cabinet. We decided to leave his work bench in kitchen. Sweet corn in tassel. 1918. Baked wheatless bread, chocolate cakes, and buttermilk pie. Made rose + green chain stitch on mamma's new dress. Worked on my spread. Very hot. Had first Golden Bantam corn. We put on new rear tires on Ford. 1919. Hans out in country again. I did a washing by hand, then repairs came in evening. Sent letter to mamma. Finished my voile dress. Hans and I out to Nielson's in evening. Hilda got nice tatting trimmed dress from Emma Reno. 1920. 23 at S.S. In P.M. we went to Hans' folks, where Gruenwald's and Dawson's were also. Stayed to supper. 40 at church in eve, first church services held at Godard for a year and a half. Rev. Snider of Elwood preaches.
