JULY 29 1917. Went to school garden before breakfast to pick peas, etc. A quiet Sunday at home. Still hot, but not so oppressive. Wrote circle letter. We went in the lake again. Got ice cream for supper. 1918. Mamma planned to start home on 3:05 A.M. train, and we went to station, but train was so late we came back home and went to bed again. Mamma helped me can 2 qt. apples, 1 of tomatoes, and 2 of cucumber pickles, also helped make convalescent robe in P.M. which we turned in at Red Cross rooms. 1919. 80 at breakfast time and much hotter all day. Canned 3 qts. beet pickles, 2 of K.W. beans, and 1 of "Yum Yum" pickles. Mark Keith here for supper of corn, tomatoes, and blueberries (canned in Club Camp). Hilda fussy - it's so hot. Gave her first tub bath, which she liked. 1920. Baked bread and bread sponge cake. We finished quilting Hilda's quilt. Had our first wild blackberry pie. 1921. Worked on my voile waist.
