AUGUST 2 1917. Hans and I made a grand clearing up in the upstairs storeroom - the last big job of the kind. I went with him to school garden to get carrots, etc. Mended 3 hrs. We got a dozen hemmed napkins from Martha and Mrs. L.W. [Forman?] Elva Mosher and Mary Nelson. 1918. Canned another qt of apples and peeled a lot of onions for pickles. Full P.M. in canning kitchen. I supervised and helped girls can 21 qt. corn and beans for Mrs. Ufford. Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Christianson also canned corn. 32 qts in all. I canned 2 1/2 qts corn. Letter from mamma. 1919. Canned 8 qt. corn again. Mrs. Chesty here just after dinner. Mopped, swept, etc. Hot! We walked to town in evening, via garden and Lyons'. Hilda weighs 12 1/2 without clothes. We were at Denison's a little while. Amanda came in from Benson's to stay here. 1920. Constance and I canned 13 qt. corn and 3 qt. cucumber pickles. We got tired. It was hot.
