AUGUST 29 1917. Down to 20°. Tomatoes nipped under cover, and beans all frozen down. We made a quick trip to country, and picked what few beans grew there. Canned 1 pt. beans, 1 qt. kohlrabi, and 2 qt. Everbearing strawberries (bought at Mrs. Holle). 1918. Fine comfortable day. I baked oatmeal bread and apple pies, cleaned up house, all of Tjaden's were here for dinner. They are finishing from moving next-door to University St. I canned 6 qts. apples, 1 of tomatoes, and 1 pt. okra in P.M. Hans and I got plums at Cusick's for us and Tjaden's. 1919. Sewed on my dress most of my spare time. Went to high school in evening for canning work with my team, Lora Wilcox, Myrtle Brubaker, and Myrtle Nelson. 1920. Quite a rain in morning, but wind dried it quickly. Drove Jane to S.S. Only 11 there. I taught primary class. Wrote to mamma. Hans' mother and Velma came over, and we all went to Olga's for cafeteria supper. 25 there, mostly young folks. Games. 1921. Washed on Monday once. Mr, & Mrs. Lyman Hall here in P.M. Crocheted in yard on pillowcase lace. Still very hot.
