SEPTEMBER 2 1917. Wrote circle letter and to mamma and Olga. Miss Alice Gallagher of Fargo, N.D. is staying with us for a couple nights till other teachers come. A Norwegian preached at church. Hans and I walked up track west to water tank, with Alice Melby and Freda Hanger. We called on John Cogswell's in evening. 1918. Fixed up picnic dinner, which we ate by Inman's Hall, on way to Beresford with Hank Meyers, wife and little Harvey. Labor Day celebration wasn't much. Mrs. M. and I saw good movie, Douglas Fairbanks in "Reaching for the Moon". Had ice cream, etc. Home 6:45. 1919. Hans and Amanda got home at 4:30 A.M. but Winfield didn't get in with the truck load of tent, etc. so Hans did not get to bed till 6:00 A.M. They slept till noon. I cleaned up picnic stuff, washed a little, etc. Rees' got home. Oliver Hanson here for supper and all night. 1920. Canned 16 qt. red plums mamma sent me, also a qt of sliced pickles. After dinner George, Mary, Hilda and I drove to the Caves, then to Maquoketa and home again. Fair on in M. but Hans is too busy with the silo to go. 1921. Signe is still "off" from the effects of one grip tablet I took. Hans went to fair in P.M, and left Ford in town for repairs. I got 2 red ribbons at fair, on canned peas and lima beans.
